Description
MEGAnet™ CORRUGATED STEEL TAPE OPTIC FIBRE is constructed of fibres inside a single gel filled loose tube. The cable is strengthened by a layer of aramid yarn, PVC bedding, corrugated steel tape and a polyethylene sheath.
LIGHTspeed CST optical fibre cable is designed for the deployment of low fibre counts in harsh environments. The cable is suitable for direct burial and various other applications where subjected to abnormal environments, due to the corrugated steel tape armouring. The corrugated steel tape armouring is insulated, cladded with plastic, that provides an excellent moisture and chemical barrier to the cable. The plastic cladded steel tape reduces damage due to lightning, as the insulating clad provides and open circuit at the overlap, eliminating a circumferential path for induced current. The monotube design with individually coloured fibres simplifies identification. Aramid strength members enable the cable to withstand high installation loads along with the fact that it is contra-helically applied in two layers to eliminate stress. The cable’s small dimensions and lightweight tolerates a small bend radius’ that simplifies installation processes. The cable offers sustained reliability over a wide temperature range. Optical fibre cores are stress free inside the loose tubes whilst expansion and contraction is
unavoidable with temperature changes. The standard polyethylene sheath can also be replaced by a low smoke zero halogen (LSZH), fire retardant, non-toxic sheath, to comply with specific building requirements. A dry water-blocking material ensures user friendly handling which reduces installation time.
