LIGHTspeed Dead End – 12.85 to 14.10mm SSA
The Thimble Type Dead End with a pressed steel galvanised thimble is designed for use on short span; maximum 80 metres, overhead dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fibre optic cable with a polyethylene sheath.
The dead end is designed to securely but gently terminate ADSS aerial fibre optic cable by transferring axial tensile load and distributing radial compressive forces through the sheath and onto the internal strength members without damaging the optical fibres.
Specific dead end design and performance depends upon a number of factors such as cable brand and design, strength member construction, sheath type, tension load requirements, temperature and environmental operating conditions. Due to these factors, these dead ends are limited to short spans and not recommended for use at road/rail/river crossings and in excessive temperature regions.
